This two-day workshop lead by community and public artist Laure True will focus on methodology and techniques for approaching community-based, public mosaic projects. Students will get a chance to experience group mosaic- making processes through the actual creation and installation of an exterior mosaic mural.
Students will come away from this information - packed workshop with the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead and facilitate successful permanent projects that engage and inspire community.

Workshop will cover various approaches to community outreach and design development, sourcing locations and materials and recruiting project participants.
Presentation will include step-by-step instructions with complementary images and detailed instruction describing multiple approaches to project coordination, management and creation with a focus on creating permanent artworks specific to a host communities’ needs, desires, location and circumstances.

Specific teacher/ facilitator training will focus on best practices for technical construction methods so that outdoor, public projects are durable, safe and long lasting. Technical resources will be included in class binder.

Do you have an old bulletin board?

Before you put stuff out for the trash look at it to make sure that you can not give it new life.

My husband Dennis drop off an old tv at our local recycling center and pick up this bulletin board.

Just buy adding a coat of paint, glue, and some glass gems from my local Michaels craft store I gave this old bulletin board new life.

Kisses to Heaven Mosaic piece

I'm so happy with my fiery piece "Kisses to Heaven" and "Free Spirit".  My only son Chris passed away on Dec. 5, 2010 so this has been a hard year.  I find great pleasure and closeness when I'm working on a new mosaic.  My son was a gifted artist since I can remember.  I knew I had a very special boy when he was three years old and only colored in the lines and made sure his other young friends did the same.  As time went on he grew into an awesome artist.  I miss him joining me in my studio and commenting on my new piece.  So now I can only speak to Chris spiritually and push myself to create a mosaic piece better then the first and I love it and find great comforted in getting lost in my creation .
